Draft:Luis Duno-Gottberg
Submission declined on 18 September 2023 by Qcne (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms that promote the subject.

Submission declined on 18 March 2023 by Mattdaviesfsic (talk). This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by Mattdaviesfsic 17 months ago. |

- Comment: No evidence of passing WP:NACADEMIC, and it has WP:PEACOCK language which is inappropriate. Qcne (talk) 17:54, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: Reads like the sort of thing you might find on a University page about him - two thirds of it just consists of his books and so on. Is there any more information about him, rather than his publications? I'd suggest culling the middle paragraph and adding headings as well, if possible. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 06:09, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: In addition to the other comments since the previous decline, regarding the subject's photography, sourcing "a keen eye for people an spaces" to the subject's Instagram page and other non-independent sources is not sufficient. See also WP:COI. Greenman (talk) 18:35, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Comment: The section titled 'publications', which looks like a list of some sort, is causing a flag for copyright violations of this page. As lists of this kind could be seen as unduly promotional, my advice would be to remove the list from the article body, and maybe add a simple External Link at the bottom of the article linking to the said page. - RichT|C|E-Mail 10:10, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
- Comment: No sources. Please see this guide for adding citations along with the notability guidelines for academics. I suggest trimming the publications to Duno-Gottberg's most notable publications (five to seven publications at most). You may also find Your first article helpful. Luis Duno-Gottberg
Luis Duno-Gottberg (born 1968, Caracas) is a Venezuelan scholar and cultural critic currently residing between the United States and Spain. He holds the Lee Hage Jamail Endowed Chair of Latin American Studies at Rice University, having previously taught at the Universidad Simón Bolivar in Caracas, Venezuela, and Florida Atlantic University.
Dr. Duno-Gottberg's academic focus lies in 19th, 20th, and 21st-century Caribbean Culture. His research revolves around topics of race, ethnicity, politics and violence, with a particular interest in the politicization of precarious subjects [1][2][3]. In his writing, he calls for an engagement with the "gray zones of politics", where contentious action, criminal activities, and "the political" converge. In the context of Trump's presidency, he explored the dynamics of "hate" through academic coursework and public discourse [4][5].
Dr. Duno-Gottberg's recent scholarship centers on visual culture, exploring photographic representations of natural disasters [6][7], [8], [9], [10], [11]. As a photographer, his work combines an interest for street photography with conceptual art [12][13]. Beyond academia, he has served as a juror for prestigious literary awards, including the Rómulo Gallegos International Novel Prize in 2013 and the José Donoso Ibero-American Literary Award in 2022 [14][15][16].
