The A224 is an A road in southeast London and northern Kent, running from Foots Cray to Sevenoaks. The road runs via Foots Cray, St. Paul's Cray, St Mary's Cray, Orpington, Chelsfield, Badgers Mount, Dunton Green, before reaching Sevenoaks.

Route

[edit]

The route commences at a junction in the Sidcup area with the A211 Sidcup Hill/Hollytree Parade and Foots Cray High Road. It then heads south, meeting the A20 road and the A223 road about 0.678 kilometres (0.421 mi) further south. During that period, it meets junctions with Evry Road, Staines Walk, Warring Road, Suffolk Road, an industrial estate, Haven Close, Powerscroft Road and Watery Lane. After the Interchange, as Sevenoaks Way, the road passes junctions with Midfield Way, Main Road, before passing a Homebase and an Evans Halshaw opposite a junction with Walsingham Road. Afterwards, it passes Way and Broomwood Road at a junction with a McDonald's, before then reaching a Tesco and Esso garage, just in front of the River Cray. The A224 road then passes a café, a car wash, as well as several other superstores (including Aldi, Currys PC World, sofology, Wren Kitchens, Furniture Village, Oak Furnitureland, Argos, Drams, Bensons for Beds and Starbucks), all within Springvale Retail Park. It also passes a Lidl superstore on the other side of the road. It then meets Meadow View, before then reaching a traffic-lighted junction with the B258 Road, in the form of Leesons Hill and Station Road. Afterwards, the Sevenoaks-bound A224 meets even more retailers in the industrial south London area of St Paul's Cray and St Mary's Cray, meeting Sports Direct, Home Bargains and Howdens.
