From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aquinnah is a town located on the island of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. From the early 1600s to 1997 it was also known as Gay Head, named after the colorful Gay Head Cliffs. The name Aquinnah is the combination of two Algonquin words: Ukque-adene-auke, or Acquiadene-auke, meaning "land under the hill.[1]"
