Vadakkekad is a village nestled in the Thrissur district of Kerala, India, with a population of over 21,000 as of 2023. The village is a hub of education, home to several institutions including more than two government-run higher secondary schools, two English medium schools—ICA and Rahmath—and ICA College. Complementing these are private education centres such as Bright Education Centre, Talent Education Centre, and Akshara, which cater to the educational needs of the community.

Economically, Vadakkekad is largely sustained by remittances from residents working in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, reflecting the village's strong ties with the Middle East. Politically, the Indian National Congress and the Communist Party of India are the most influential forces, shaping the village’s socio-political landscape.

The village boasts an array of cultural and recreational activities, with the ESA Vadakkekad club standing out. This club not only has sports teams that participate in competitions across Kerala and the UAE but also maintains a football ground in Erinjippadi.

Vadakkekad is also known for its tourism appeal, being one of the wealthiest villages in the Thrissur district. A key religious site is the Kapliyangad Sree Bhagavathy temple, located nearby, which attracts devotees and tourists alike.

A notable industrial presence in Vadakkekad is the K.P. Namboodiris Ayurvedic Tooth Powder factory, a local enterprise with a global footprint, underscoring the village's contribution to Kerala's tradition of Ayurveda.

Vadakkekad is located 30 km from Thrissur railway station, 10 km from Guruvayoor railway station, and 9 km from Kunnamkulam bus stand.

In recent years, Vadakkekad has gained recognition not only for its educational and industrial contributions but also for its commitment to preserving cultural heritage and fostering community well-being, making it a unique and vibrant village in Kerala.
