Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Lain in State Template

[edit]

Hi, I thought the template you created to list individuals who have lain in state in the US Capitol was a great idea. I made a couple of suggested revisions on the Template talk:Lain in State (USA) page. Obviously, I can make the changes myself, but since it's a new template that you created and have done most of the editing on, I wanted to reach out and see if you had any thoughts or feedback first. --EightYearBreak (talk) 15:45, 30 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Just curious, (I know you've been around a long time), but is the name just a coincidence? - wolf 18:56, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nope. Not a coincidence. My last name is Stockdale, but no relation (that I know of) to the admiral, nor any other Stockdales in Wikipedia. RSStockdale (talk) 19:00, 26 September 2018 (UTC) @Thewolfchild:[reply]

Ok. Thanks for the reply. Cheers - wolf 21:16, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you add something that's unsourced to an article, and you get reverted, could you please come to the article talk page and discuss it rather than simply re-adding the material? Thanks. Kendall-K1 (talk) 21:56, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Kendall-K1:Sure. I've never simply re-added anything. And I've only ever had 19 out of 7275 reverted over the past 11 years. And I've now inserted refs for the "lying in state". RSStockdale (talk) 14:57, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

James Duncan Lawrence (author)

[edit]

Thank you for your entry and maintenance of this article. I appreciate your work very much. This author was my father. I am passionate about preserving and promoting his legacy. I particularly appreciate your effort to compile a fairly complete list of his work, but it is incomplete. If you have any interest in filling in the gaps, I would appreciate an opportunity to work with you.

I agree with you about more structured editing of Wikipedia articles and prefer not to make direct changes to your work. JDLawrenceJr (talk) 20:06, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I would enjoy that. Growing up, the Hardy Boys and Tom Swift were some of the first books that I read. That's why I created that wikipage for your dad.
It is rough finding information on the web on him, so any help that you can give in pointing me to specific web pages, books, articles, etc. would be appreciated. RSStockdale (talk) 21:30, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have his files / records, manuscripts, communication, contracts etc. I have a lot I can share. I don't know the best way to proceed. I don't know why, but I am not able to send directly to you using the 'Email This User' function. Please email me, if you can or let me know how we can connect. I look forward to working together. Thank you! JDLawrenceJr (talk) 16:14, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello,
I hope all is well. As I mentioned, I appreciate your efforts to create a comprehensie entry for my father. I am looking forward to meeting with you whenever you are ready to speak. Please let me know how we can get in touch more directly. Thank you.
