I can't see the Apple symbol

[edit]

I can't see the Apple symbol in "styled as  Park". Instead, I get a square symbol.

Anyone knows how to fix this? And better yet, fix it so that everyone could see it. Baville (talk) 19:51, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What kind of device are you using? PiGuy3 (talk) 18:01, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Just a regular PC, Windows 10, using Chrome. Baville (talk) 19:49, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The apple character is Unicode U+F8FF, which is set aside for private use. On Apple devices it is an apple logo, but on other devices it could be a different character. Take a look at this website http://hea-www.harvard.edu/~fine/OSX/unicode_apple_logo.html. PiGuy3 (talk) 23:06, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New aerial photo of Apple Park

[edit]

My first contribution to Wikimedia Commons, uploaded today into Category: Apple Park.

AppleHQ2017

Don't know appropriateness for insertion into the Apple Park article, how or where. My editing experience is mostly minor typos and fixing links. Feel free to use the photo. Rairden (talk) 09:18, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Here are 5 satellite images, CC4 showing progress over 2 years. See this for template when adding to Commons. TGCP (talk) 09:32, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Gratified to see others have found and used this aerial photo. International wikis listed under Global File Usage. Also recognized a cropped and color-adjusted version prominently in a recent local real estate ad. Rairden (talk) 19:56, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Duncan Sinfield and Matthew Roberts

[edit]

User:Jimthing has been continually adding mention of "Duncan Sinfield and Matthew Roberts", two people who apparently post drone videos of Apple Park on YouTube. In edit summaries I have continually questioned why this information is pertinent to the article's subject, and for reliable secondary sources to be added per Wikipedia policy. This seems like undue weight given to two ordinary Youtubers, and basically a piece of random trivia. Please explain. Thanks, Citobun (talk) 12:18, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fine, names removed. If it really makes that much difference, when citing source of these drone vids. What was actually trying to be explained, was simply that there were two main people doing them all, hence using names to explain that fact, and not attempting to 'promote' them in any way. But fine, if more ambiguity is somehow better, then remove this fact. This is a classic misappropriation of WP guidelines about promotion, to remove precise understanding from an article, IMO. Possible source for "Only 20% of the campus is green space"

[edit]

In the Landscaping section, the introductory sentence mentions that 20% of the campus is green space. An article referencing this was published on 24 February 2017; however, its reliability is unknown: http://nowtrendingstory.com/apple-park-new-campus-of-apple/

That would solve the issue of during what time only 20% of the campus was green space. However, because the campus is nearing completion, I feel that the first part of the introductory sentence is unnecessary and should be removed and be replaced with with the second part of the introductory sentence: "When construction is complete, Apple Park will consist of 80% green space." (I replaced "it" with Apple Park).

No Mention of Jony Ive

[edit]

There seems to be some confusion here, Jobs and Ive conceived the project together and Ive carried out the implementation of same and it was Ive who worked with Norman Foster not Steve Jobs yet there is no mention of Ive anywhere in the article. Also the Pixar building was designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson.DNA Cowboy (talk) 15:02, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
