Counter Vandalism Academy

[edit]

Good afternoon Sir! I hope you are enjoying your semi-time off from wiki :) I wanted to know your thoughts on the current progress of my counter-vandalism training, please. If Wikipedia has a chat feature, I would like to talk with you about any potential issues you have with my training. Thank you for your time.

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I think you made a mistake in closing the move discussion as 'Not Moved.' The discussion clearly ended in a consensus to move the page. I would really appreciate it if you relooked at your decision. Gracias King Philip V of Spain (talk) 12:34, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I closed the discussion as not moved per two reasons:
i) the request received an objection that remained unresolved, since Srnec provided an example source that backed up the fact that the war started in 1654, and it wen't unchallenged;
ii) Red Slash supported the move, but he didn't come back to enhance the discussion after Srnec's objections, and thus the discussion ended at 'no consensus', which defaults against the move.
Also, although I am no expert about the war, I think that a broader discussion should take place before performing such a move. You are very welcome to open a new move request to gather more comments. Cheers. — ΛΧΣ21 16:33, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, after seeing the source, I might well have withdrawn my !vote, because apparently the two of us were wrong. Red Slash 04:05, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Hahc21, for your explanation. Red Slash, I think the source I referenced should be taken into account also, especially since it gives a detailed explanation of the whole war, and clearly shows no conflict in 1654, while Srnec's source merely gives dates for the war without explaining. King Philip V of Spain (talk) 04:50, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You recently offered a statement in a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Ebionites 3. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Ebionites 3/Evidence. Please add your evidence by October 1, 2013, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Ebionites 3/Workshop. Help request

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your response. Bharathiya created the article Pallathadka Keshava Bhat, or Dr. P.Keshava Bhat, a Professor of Indian origin and settled in Venezuala and I am joining hands to develop it. There are some sources (including blogs, which I am trying to remove) in Spanish and the other editor who started the article largely depended on google translate. Can you review the article, with emphasis to the sources used? Further, Dr. P.Keshava Bhat's achievements are largely unknown in India and sources in English are very very scarce. Thanks.Rayabhari (talk) 16:05, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Forgive me for asking, but why is your signature Lambda Chi Sigma? Feel free to tell me it's none of my business. =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:43, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Heh. Somebody asked me a while ago if I belonged to Lambda Chi Sigma, and if 21 was my scroll number. That was the moment when I realized about the existence of academic fraternities and fraternities in general. Pretty interesting stuff. There, I discovered that my signature, which is a mathematical anagram, guards relationship with that fraternity, with whom I share the same views, although I'm not a member. The truth, however, is that my signature has to do with a computer graphics process called subsurface scattering, which is often used in the development of video games; and is a comglomeration of three greek symbols and a number that have significative meaning to me. More about that can be found here and here. Cheers! — ΛΧΣ21 17:11, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hahc, I see you are going through the pending triple crown awards. I have a Napoleonic upgrade that's been languishing there for quite a while (not sure if I had to list everything I'd ever done or just the upgrade stuff, so listed it all...see my user page for the original triple crown one I already have...) Montanabw(talk) 00:22, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, your nomination is the next I will check, and I will do it late tonight or tomorrow. For the purposes of making my work a bit more easy, and since you are applying for the Imperial Napoleonic Triple Crown, I will only take 5 pieces of each one instead of all. When you reach 15, you can present them all for the Alexander the Great one. Cheers. — ΛΧΣ21 00:24, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2013 September newsletter

[edit]

In 30 days, we will know the identity of our 2013 WikiCup champion. Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) currently leads; if that lead is held, she will become the first person to have won the WikiCup twice. Canada Sasata (submissions), Australia Hawkeye7 (submissions)—who has never participated in the competition before—and New South Wales Casliber (submissions) follow. The majority of points in this round have come from a mix of good articles and bonus points. This final round is seeing contributions to a number of highly important topics; recent submissions include Phoenix (constellation) (FA by Casliber), Ernest Lawrence (GA by Hawkeye7), Pinniped, and red fox (both GAs by Sasata).

The did you know (DYK) eligibility criteria have recently changed, meaning that newly passed good articles are accepted as "new" for did you know purposes. However, in the interests of not changing the WikiCup rules mid-competition, please note that only articles eligible for DYK under the old system (that is, newly created articles or 5x expansions) will be eligible for points in this year's WikiCup. We do, however, have time to discuss how this new system will work for next year's competition; a discussion will be opened in due course. On that note, thoughts are welcome on changes you'd like to see for next year. What worked? What didn't work? What would you like to see more of? What would you like to see less of? All Wikipedians, new or old, are also warmly invited to sign up for the 2014 WikiCup.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Yo!

[edit]

Yo Harold! Buddy! It's me Erick! You know from way back when? LOL. Anyways, I wanted to let you know that Arjona just got nominated a Latin Grammy. I miss having you around bro. :( Erick (talk) 21:34, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh! I didn't expect him to receive another nomination this year after flopping so hard in 2012 Lol. Yeah, I miss you too :[ We should do some collabs again. What have you been doing lately? — ΛΧΣ21 22:54, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I just got Formula, Vol. 1 GA and I'm continuing to work on it for FA. I also expanded Mi Tierra with the long term being FA as well. Not only that, but I've been helping WikiProject Shakira as well and Fijacion Oral 1 is a current FAC. I'm aiming for the Latin music project to get a 100 GA and/or 5 FA milestone. We're almost there too! Erick (talk) 11:19, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nice! I've been doing nothing content-wise as of late :[ I've been deviating my attention to other stuff like clerk and delegate work, etc. I am planning to develop Thirty Flights of Loving up to FA soon, same with Star Wars 1313 if it's finally confirmed that I will never be released. — ΛΧΣ21 03:22, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah! Little known fact: When I new to Wikipedia, I also did video game articles namely Nintendo and JRPGs. I never really severely contributed to any of them though. So anyways, I have a favor to ask, when the Latin music milestone is met, can I ask your help for something? Erick (talk) 04:46, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Heh. You jumped from video games to latin music, and I jumped from latin music to video games, even to the point that I have 4 video game FAs now :D And sure, ask away! — ΛΧΣ21 05:02, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. :P Well for a while, I've wanted to make the Latin American music portal a Featured Portal with users helping out. If it's not too much to ask that is. Erick (talk) 05:10, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wait. That is an incredible idea! I have never gone through FPoC though, so this might be the first time. Count me in :] — ΛΧΣ21 05:12, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mine too! =D I have another surpise as well when we get to the milestone. It's not another collaborative work, but it's good nonetheless. Erick (talk) 05:18, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yay! Surprises are good :] By the way, I still have Independiente on the list of future FACs. Would you be willing to help me there? I am an ace at video game articles through FAC, but album articles make me struggle a lot (not lying, taking Homework to FA was a PITA, lol). — ΛΧΣ21 05:21, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Bro, I was just going to ask about Independiente! Of course I'll help! I really can't see what else is there to add to the article. I guess check to see if all the awards are there. Erick (talk) 05:24, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Will do, and thanks! I still need to be seriopus and continue my work with Arjona and finish the rest of his studio albums, although my wiki time has been severely reduced lately, and even more so that I joined Wikidata and Wikivoyage. — ΛΧΣ21 05:34, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that's quite a task indeed. Just one more thing, I'm going to have a live chat on webcam with Javier on the day of the Latin Grammy Awards and I want to know if you'd like to attend as well. Erick (talk) 05:38, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Why not. Which is the day? I is usually by the end of November no? — ΛΧΣ21 05:43, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
November 21. This should be a rather interesting night to say the least.... I'm going to ask DivaKnockouts next. Erick (talk) 05:47, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, not sure I would be home that day but I will be having my laptop with me and I'm sure I will have internet wherever I stay. So yup, will be very nice to see you all :D — ΛΧΣ21 05:48, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Right so here's the plan. After getting Prince Royce's award FL, I'll help with Independiente FAC. I got my hands tied right now helping a lot people with Spanish articles. Erick (talk) 22:53, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Magiciandude: Nice! No hurries though, I have been very busy in RL and thus we can go slowly on this. I will try to get some spare time and create the Metamorfosis En Vivo article. Cheers! — ΛΧΣ21 02:36, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, can you please give a specific reason why it failed FLC? I agree with you that it was best to not pass it this time, but I'm guessing that it was the inappropriate comments by Prashant, because despite his behaviour the issues brought up at the FLC had already been addressed. Prashant sadly appears to be shifting blame on people in edit summaries. I've raised concerns with Ian and Graham that he should be banned from the process and his post here is further proof of this, ♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:35, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I should not be banned okay.. you are saying this you want to take over my flc no??? Blofeld. I know you all. But, I asked this question to him because I did not wanted a third flc of akk my articles. Which is true in all my articles. You are only trying to add fuel to fire blofeld. I didn't expected this from you. —Prashant 18:48, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
For reasons, please see the FLC closure log on WT:FLC. Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:05, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and I agree completely with the summary and outcome.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:33, 10 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Prashant!: Why am I involved in all of this when, first of all, I wasn't the one who archived the FLC? I'm sorry but I have to say it: Damn, first go and check who the hell closed your FLC before ranting at my talk page. Second, ranting won't solve anything. If we closed your FLC as archived is because it was not ready, period. There is not, and will never be politics involved at FLC, so go and make your bad assumptions somewhere else.
  • @Dr. Blofeld: If this is the common attitude of Prashant at nomination pages (haven't been following him lately) then a ban would be appropriate. The last thing I want is a disruptive user jeopardizing our process. We already have enough issues to solve already. Thanks for your comments.
  • @The Rambling Man: Thank you for weighing in. Cheers. — ΛΧΣ21 01:07, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that you supported Risker's statement that all arbitrators elected in the upcoming election receive two-year terms, and then you supported my statement that everybody past the eighth seat receive a one-year term. (In other words, assuming no additional resignations, under Risker's proposal, nine people would be elected for two years, but under my proposal (which is the status quo), eight people would be elected for two years and one person for one year.) I have no personal stake in which option is selected, other than being the person who posted one of them in the RfC, but I do think that for the sake of the person who closes that section if nothing else, it would probably be a good idea for you to choose one or the other.  :) Neutron (talk) 23:38, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to all who have taken part and helped out with the competition. Brainstorming and discussion remains open for how next year's competition will work, and straw polls will be opened by the judges soon. Those interested in friendly competition may also like to keep an eye on the stub contest, being organised by Casliber. The WikiCup judges will be back in touch over the coming months, and we hope to see you all in the 2014 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement! This week's Signpost

[edit]

Hey, just wanted to let you know the FC section is all but done, except for lists. I see you're away this week; would you like for me to just wrap that up? If I don't hear from you by tomorrow (my time), I'll just go ahead and throw something together. Thanks! Cdtew (talk) 03:18, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Cdtew: I am not sure I could do them in the next 18 hours so of you can waity until tomorrow at 19:00 (my time) I'll gladly do them. Otherwise, feel free to do them by yourself. I've been extremely busy as of late. Cheers! — ΛΧΣ21 03:23, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Hahc21: Oh, no rush then, by all means have at it. Cdtew (talk) 19:25, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Try out Snuggle?

[edit]

Hi,

I notice that you recently signed up to be informed about Snuggle, a new interface for easy finding of newcomers. Have you tried it already? If so, could you please give your feedback on the same? Aaron would always like to know what can and should be done to better it.

If you haven't tried it already, I suggest you do it :) I find Snuggle to be very helpful when dealing with newcomers, and trying to find helpful and Good Faith new editors.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ping Aaron or me, and we'd be happy to oblige.

Thanks, TheOriginalSoni (talk) 15:28, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm just following up on why List of people from Park Ridge, Illinois was considered a failed nomination and removed from review...without any review. Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Failed log/October 2013: Difference between revisions. --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 00:32, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Dkriegls: Well, I think that sometimes failed is the incorrect word to be used when a nomination gets stalled. What happened is that we cannot promote a list without such list receiving a proper review, but it cannot be left open forever. Therefore, after a considerable amount of time has elapsed, I closed it as not promoted because consensus for promotion was not achieved. However, you can start a new nomination and ask some editors to have a look at it whenever you want. Cheers. — ΛΧΣ21 00:46, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I figured it was something like that. I just wanted to make sure there was nothing else outstanding. I keep planning to get more involved with those list nominations...I guess this is the moment to do so. Cheers. Dkriegls (talk to me!) 02:53, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Steeplechase

[edit]

Hi Hahc21- Quick question: does one need to sign up in advance for the November 2013 Steeplechase, or can one add their name later in the month depending on how they are doing? Thanks-Godot13 (talk) 18:11, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'd recommend to add your name at the start of the Steeplechase to know who are the ones interested in participating. The totals can be added at the end of the eligibility period, though. Cheers. — ΛΧΣ21 05:02, 3 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Triple Crown

[edit]

Hey Hahc! Thanks for awarding me with the Triple Crown. Unfortunately, the award on my talk page were for the Imperial Triple Crown Jewels (which I already have) instead of the Napoleonic one. Looking at all your other contributions (i.e. to the TC log and main page) that state "Napoleonic", I'm imputing that this was simply a naming mistake. Rather than trouble you into awarding me again, would you mind if I changed the pic and name myself? Cheers! —Bloom6132 (talk) 01:49, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bloom6132 Ooops! I already fixed it. Thanks for letting me know; yes, it was a mistake :] — ΛΧΣ21 02:11, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. And thank you for all the work you've done in revamping and maintaining the Triple Crown page! It's a whole lot better. Cheers! —Bloom6132 (talk) 02:17, 10 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

More FL comments

[edit]

I feel like I keep making comments about the FLC/FLRC process. What I mean is I looked at Wikipedia:Featured list removal candidates/log/October 2013 and it seems the nominations were not closed. Because of this, List of Last Exile episodes is still considered a Featured List. Might want to get that checked out. GamerPro64 03:11, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, we are taking a look at that. Seems like the bot is having issues. — ΛΧΣ21 03:33, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
