Copy-paste

[edit]

Article copy-pasted from article about the former Inch Parish, Wigtownshire. If Inch still exists, all of this current content here will be irrelevant. Sionk (talk) 19:57, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Nonsense, even bad-faith. You know exactly what is going on: there was an Inch parish, and there is an Inch (place). Two different topics, two different articles. Drmies (talk) 20:03, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I've declined the speedy deletion nomination. I know nothing more about either Inch or Inch Parish beyond what I have read in the two articles, but Drmies is an extremely experienced editor, and I am sure he wouldn't have created a second article without a good reason. I suggest that Sionk allow some time to see how this article evolves, which hopefully will satisfy him that there's a reason to have the two separate articles. If not, he can address the issue at that time. Newyorkbrad (talk) 20:05, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

General note - For previous edit history (of the copy-pasted article) see Inch Parish, Wigtownshire: Revision history Sionk (talk) 01:09, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Village?

[edit]

Does the "small village of Inch" exist any longer? It doesn't appear on Google maps! I can see there's a small church but little else. Sionk (talk) 00:02, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

[edit]

What is inch? The first sentance of the lead should explain what it is, not its size. There is a statement further down that describes it as a small town, vaguely. --kelapstick(bainuu) 21:37, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think anyone knows what Inch comprises of! The article was originally written as a historical description of the old ecclesiastical/civil parish of Inch, which contained a number of settlements which no longer exist, for example Innermessan. A senior admin decided to copy-paste the article from Inch Parish, Wigtownshire to here, but I'm not sure they had any local knowledge (neither do I, for that matter, apart from visiting the area several years ago). As I say above, looking at modern aerial maps (and Google street view) there's hardly anything in the locality apart from a small church and a few country homes.
