Summary
DescriptionRiversCasino.jpg |
English: Picture of the Rivers Casino, located at 777 Casino Drive in the Chateau neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 18, 2010. This picture was taken from Mount Washington, and shows the front of the casino facing the Ohio River.
Story: Don H. Barden held a groundbreaking ceremony for the casino (which was originally going to be named the Majestic Star Casino) on December 11, 2007, but financial troubles forced Barden to sell 75% of his interest in the casino to Holdings Acquisition Co. L.P. on July 16, 2008. Primarily built in 2008 and 2009, the Rivers Casino opened for business on August 9, 2009, and became the first official casino in the city of Pittsburgh. It is owned by Holdings Acquisition Co. L.P., a joint venture of Walton Street Capital, L.L.C. and High Pitt Gaming, L.P. It originally only contained slot machines and machine gaming, but in July, 2010, table games officially began at the casino. Architects: "Las Vegas based Bergman Walls & Associates was the architect of record and design architect on the Rivers Casino project in collaboration with Pittsburgh-based architecture and planning firm, Strada Architecture LLC, for the exterior architecture."[1] |
