Description
English: O'kono - Ceremonial ax
History: Axe decision in the hands of the chief Kanaka ATAÏ, tribe revolted La Foa, who was killed during the uprising in 1878.
Description  : Ceremonial ax, circular, polished jadeite. Two holes allow attachment of the handle. This one is dressed in a blue hardwood native cloth. Braided cords decorate the determining diamonds. These links are flying fox hair. At the end of the handle which is swollen and hollow, a dark brown wool braided cord wrapping constitutes a decorative ending with four strips the ends of which are hooked shells.

Historique : Hache prise entre les mains du chef Canaque ATAÏ de la tribu révoltée de La Foa, lequel a été tué pendant l'insurrection de 1878.
Description  : Hache de cérémonie de forme circulaire, en jadéite poli. Deux trous permettent la fixation du manche. Celui ci est en bois dur habillé d'une étoffe indigène bleue. Des cordons tressés le décorent en déterminant des losanges. Ces liens sont en fils de poils de Roussette. A l'extrémité du manche qui est renflée et creuse, un habillage de cordon de laine bistre tressée constitue une décoration se terminant par quatre lanières aux extrémités desquelles sont accrochés des coquillages.
