English: Exterior from some distance. The Ulu Cami or Grand Mosque, built 1156-57. A notice indicates it is the most important and oldest building of Harput. It has a rectangular plan, walls are made of rubble stone and its dome, arches and minaret are made of brick. It is one of the oldest mosques of Anatolia and was built during the reign of the Artukoĝlus dynasty. It was built by the order of Fahreddin Karaarslan, ruler of Harput. It’s famous for an inclining minaret and its courtyard and porticos.
