Object history
Deutsch: Kaiser Karl V. verlieh dem damaligen Markt 1541 das Wappen. Die Bäume auf den Felsen in der hinteren Schildhälfte stehen redend für den Ortsnamen, der bis in das 18. Jahrhundert Waldenfels hieß. Der Bamberger Löwe in der vorderen Schildhälfte erinnert an die Landeshoheit des Bistums Bamberg. In Siegeln aus dem 17. Jahrhundert sind die beiden Schildhälften vertauscht. Wallenfels wurde 1818 wieder Ruralgemeinde und musste deshalb die Siegelführung aufgeben. In einer Bürgermeistermedaille von 1836 stand ein stark verändertes Wappen, das von einer ungenauen Zeichnung von 1812 und von einer Fälschung 1827 stammte. Die drei Bäume standen in einem Gartenscherm, der Bamberger Löwe war silbern. Im Zusammenhang mit der Stadterhebung nahm Wallenfels 1954 das Wappen in der Form von 1541 wieder an.
