This is an example of how a negative charge is applied from a high voltage corona wire to the photoreceptive drum.

Created by Dale Mahalko, using Microsoft PowerPoint at 200% size (since PowerPoint is not meant to be used as a drawing program but it's all I have available), then screenshotted and saved as a JPEG using Corel PhotoPaint.
