Summary

Description

The BDSM Rights Flag, partially loosely based on the design of the Leather Pride flag and also encompassing a version of the BDSM Emblem (but not similar enough to fall within Quagmyr's specific copyright claims). The BDSM Rights Flag is offered by "Tanos" (of www.bdsmrights.com and other websites) as a symbol of the BDSM movement.

The "BDSM rights flag", as devised by Tanos for the purpose of symbolizing and expressing support for the idea "that people whose sexuality or relationship preferences include... BDSM deserve the same human rights as everyone else, and should not be discriminated against for pursuing BDSM with consenting adults".[1]

The flag includes the color symbolism of the previous Leather pride flag, and a central emblem somewhat similar to Quagmyr's BDSM Emblem (but different enough to be free from the copyright restrictions which Quagmyr claims on certain specified versions of the Triskelion symbol). Of course, the Triskelion ultimately comes from the description of the Roissy triskelion ring in the "Histoire d'O" by Pauline Réage.

Copyrighted, all rights released. The BDSM Rights website states: "You do not need to ask our permission to use the design or the image files we make available."

The statement on the Tanos site page says the flag may be used with this intended symbolism "on your own websites, publications, T-shirts, mugs, whatever - whether for personal use or for commercial gain... You do not need to ask our permission to use the design or the image files we make available"; and Tanos himself has personally uploaded a raster image of the flag to Wikipedia under a public domain license (see File:BDSMrightsFlag166x100.png).
