Previous PROD

[edit]

I am removing the PROD tags from both this page and Harry Mattick. Harry especially is in no doubt notable due to his competition history and also his background as to why he started skating and his journey with an abusive coach (featured in a number of sources including BBC and ITV). Fully admit that the articles both need work however per both WP:PRODNOM and WP:NEXIST I believe that the correct action is to update the articles to include further information and sources (which I fully intend to do myself but welcome any other interested editors). Further, per Wikipedia:Proposed_deletion, I believe that this is an inappropriate use of the PROD process as "PROD must only be used if no opposition to the deletion is expected". Per WP:WIP I will continue to work on these articles over the coming month or so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jambajuiceuk (talkcontribs) 21:19, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

This article was flagged for Notability by User:Onel5969. Lydia is a multiple time competitor at British Nationals, ISU International events, and at the 2023 World Figure Skating Championships. She has also featured in a documentary series by BBC Three. Her pairs skating partner Harry Mattick is considered notable for the same achievements.

I'm not sure on the usual process but would like to seek consensus that this meets the notability requirements before deleting the flag on the article. I have added reference tags for the ISU worlds event and the BBC Three documentary. Jambajuiceuk (talk) 19:25, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, if I had reviewed Mattick, I would have flagged him also. The issue is, neither has any senior achievements or the junior qualification (medal at junior worlds) with which to meet WP:NSKATE. And they both are sourced solely with primary sources, so WP:GNG is not met. If you can provide in-depth coverage from independent, reliable sources, then please do so. And to say she "starred" in the BBC episode is a bit disingenuous; she's not even mentioned in the promotional blurb about it. She might have appeared, but it does not appear she was one of the featured skaters in it. Onel5969 TT me 20:35, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
