Rafey Kazi is a Pakistani-born American cricketer and technology executive, recognized for his contributions both in the sport of cricket and in the IT industry. He has played for the USA National Cricket Team and is currently the Chief Executive Officer of a technology firm, leading various innovative projects. Prior to this role, Kazi held senior leadership positions at various companies, including SunGard Energy.[1]
Early Life and Education
[edit]Kazi was born in Pakistan and moved to the United States at a young age. He pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering, graduating from the University of Houston in 1993.[2]
Cricket Career
[edit]Kazi has played a key role in veteran cricket, particularly with the USA Over-50s Cricket Team. He participated in the Over-50s Cricket World Cup in South Africa in 2022, where he scored 123* against the West Indies.[3] Kazi also played a pivotal role in Team USA's victory in the 2022 Caribbean Cup, where his steady performance contributed to their win against the West Indies.[4] He is also active in domestic leagues, including the Saturday Super Cricket League (SSCL) in Houston, where he serves as the President and co-owner of Texans HPL (Houston Premier League).[5][6]
His cricket achievements include:
- Scored a top score of 123* against the West Indies in the 2023 Over-50s Cricket World Cup and achieved 106* in the 2023 Zonal Tournament, making him one of the notable performers in the competition.[7]
- Over 1,100 runs in international and domestic matches with a batting average of 27.95.
- Among the top 15 batsmen in the IMC over-50s cricket.[8][9]
Technology Career
[edit]Rafey Kazi began his technology career as Director of IT at Altra Energy Technologies in 1994. He later worked as the Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Technology at SunGard Energy and Commodities, overseeing significant IT projects. Kazi has been recognized as one of America’s PremierExperts® for his leadership in IT and as one of the leading IT security experts in Fast Company magazine.[10][11][12]
Personal Life
[edit]Rafey Kazi is married to Dr. Amber Kazi, a practicing physician in the United States.[13]
