Amelia is a French airline founded in 1976. Since 2019, it has been the trading name of the Regourd Aviation group, a company that specializes in the rental of aircraft with crew, charter flights, sports transport, corporate transport, crew transport and aircraft maintenance. The company has also been operating scheduled flights for several years. The trading name is a tribute to aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart.

Amelia rents crewed aircraft to companies such as Air France, Air France Hop or Eastern Airways. Amelia also operates charter flights for various (semi-)governmental institutions. It provides crew transport for Air France or Brussels Airlines and operates scheduled flights between Port-Gentil (in Gabon), Pointe-Noire and Brazzaville (Congo). The company also operates government flights for governments in African countries such as the Republic of Congo.

History

[edit]

The airline was founded in 1976 by Alain Regourd.[2]

In 2019, Regourd Aviation renamed its European subsidiary as Amelia as a tribute to American aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart.[3] Regourd Aviation itself now only acts as a holding company, including its Slovenian subsidiary Amelia International (formerly Aero4M) and its African subsidiaries Equaflight (EKA), EquaJet (EK), and Equa2R.[3]

In February 2022, it was announced that the three ATR 72s would be converted to hydrogen power.[4]

In March 2022, it was announced that it would take over the Public Service Obligation (PSO) routes from Strasbourg to Munich and Amsterdam Schiphol on April 9.[5]
